30 mayo When Nobody Reads Your BlogI 've done quite a bit of research lately on page ranking, search engine optimization, Alexa ranking and so forth. All to no avail. Nobody reads my blog (here) anyway. How do I know? I know because I never get any comments on it. There's no need for me to look for any place to see what my ranking is, "no comments" speaks for itself. I'm not quite sure how to take that. I'll sleep on it and decide tomorrow how it strikes me. Another way I know nobody reads this blog is because I accidently spelled backspace incorrectly in my May 26th post. I had it as backsspace with two s(es). In big bold letters no less, larger than my normal font. Can you believe, not one word from a single soul about it. Nobody mentioned it. It just sat there, looking dumb for all those days. I had looked at it for so long, it seemed fine to me. You know how it is when you've looked at something so long your mind doesn't see mistakes. It only sees what you intended to put there in the first place. True, I might have fallen to pieces, crying and having a hissy-fit for being called out on it, but at least then, I would know somebody somewhere read the stuff. Oh well, now I know I am blogging to the choir. Or is it singing to the preacher? Or what? 29 mayo Keyboard Shortcuts (con't)Below are more keyboard shortcuts. I have not personally used these particular ones so, please send me a comment if you use them.
I hope these are helpful. 26 mayo Keyboard Shortcuts If you ever find yourself writing in a space or a place where there are no toolbar tabs for functions like bold or italics. The following shortcuts work. Use your keyboard to achieve the desired action.
24 mayo Guilt by Fishing RodI'm sorry, but lately, circumstances have forced me to miss blogging frequently. (i.e. leaking water pipes, fridge going on the blink, Mom needing assistance, etc) I got those things taken care of, thankfully. In the interim, I have re-discovered a long forgotten passion - fishing! We're going fishing again tomorrow. I'll let you know how it turns out as soon as I can. Deep down inside, I do feel a tiny twinge of guilt. But that's okay, I'll get over that as soon as we hit the lake. 23 mayo Do Not Copy & Paste Email to Your BlogPS: Important: Something I learned while trying to share some nice emails I had received - on my other blog:
18 mayo Gone FishingHere we are, Nun-2 son and I, fishing. It takes a while for me to get back into the swing of things like casting, getting caught on weeds, and making the baited hook go anywhere near the spot I aim for. After about 15 or 20 minutes I get the hang of it - again. Soon my float begins to dip and bobble with that old familiar tug. Each time it does, I reel it in only to find an empty hook on the end of my line. Somewhere around nibble number 7 or 8 or so, I reel in the line and, BRAVO! I got one! My son races over excitedly, to investigate and to help. But, not before running back to the car for the camera to capture the moment. My first catch is a cute tiny thing, about 2-3 inches long - a baby bass. It's been a long time coming, but we're here. And, this is more fun than I have had in quite a long long time. 16 mayo An Unplanned EntryI hadn't planned to post today. Spent the day working on Fun n Inspiration at www.dellgirl-funninspiration.blogspot.com I want that to be a place where we gather to relax, wind down, and have a chuckle or two, maybe nod in agreement, or even shout at the page in DIS-agreement. Whatever the case, I want it to be different from my other "working/business" related blogs and sites. I'm not trying to teach anybody anything there. Mostly sharing some of those wonderful emails, jokes, and inspiration my friends have sent me over the years. If you haven't been there yet, go now. Then let me know your thoughts on the site. I welcome the feedback. 15 mayo Linking For Assessibility
Daily blogging is an impossibility now with numerous blogs and the website to maintain. A schedule is in order here so, I’ll make one soon. Details (posting dates and times) to be announced.
Today’s post is my attempt to link together all that I have created.
I am presently maintaining my:
To say that I tend to go to extremes is an understatement, I think. Oh well! It is done now and, boy did I have fun doing it!
Until later 12 mayo Offline Posting to a BlogI'm starting without a title here, need to get this information posted while it is "HOT" off the press. I mention earlier that I started the day doing research. Well, this post is a part of that research since I am writing it off-line with "Windows Live Writer" What I Learned:
There! I'm done for now. If I left anything out, I'll be back later. ChecklistI have only been half way around the block this morning. Meaning?! I have not visited all my "tech-no-spots". I'll have a good name for those things soon, I hope. So far today, I have only:
I failed to write it down, check it off my daily to-do chart, so I think that covers it for now. Before posting here, I started a little research on "the correct way to blog". Good time to think about that, huh? Found some interesting and informative things that I plan to implement right away. Knowing how I get carried away, I decided to come here and post this record of my progress for the day. I'll be back later. 11 mayo One Click to GiveHappy Mother's Day!
I hope mothers everywhere are enjoying the day. This includes those who did not give birth but assumed the role willingly and unselfishly.
That's all for today's post, there is time later for blogging, ranting, rambling, etc.
Most importantly, PLEASE click on the sites above my blog to help those who are less fortunate. One click is all it takes.
If you are reading this blog at my website, go to http://1dellgirl.spaces.live.com
Thank you for caring.
I'll be back later. 10 mayo TMT Too Much TechnologyI should not, SHOULD not, should NOT be posting right now!
I am dead serious, I should not be posting right now.
Why?
For one thing, I haven't posted in a couple of days, been way too busy with - you know - technicalities, websites, blogs, maintenance, all that. You've heard all that so I'll save it. Since my last post I learned so many new things, I haven't been able to digest it all yet. Don't want to go into that all either. Let's just say, I'm on overload and need a "technical" break. A break from all things technical? Whatever the correct terminology, I need it.
But, what is the purpose of making a blog if I'm not going to post to it frequently? None. That's why I am forcing myself to post. This post probably won't generate any positive or helpful feedback from anyone but, that is not the reason I'm doing it.
The main reason I should not be posting is that my mind is totally and completely fried with TMT - Too Much Technology. The only things that come to mind to write about are the very things that have me feeling "burned-out", too frazzled to write interesting and informative information for others to read.
That said, I'll stop here. Maybe I'll go play some spider solitaire or free cell until I dull my mind into complete and utter oblivion. Then...
I'll be back later. 08 mayo No More http colon slash slash www dotHello and good day, all! It has been an amazing journey this past few days, weeks, and months.
I fired up the computer this morning to check the sites, blogs, blurbs, etc. to make sure everything continues to work smoothly. Email first - to see if any of my friends had a minute to write me. Can't complain if they didn't, I haven't had a free second to write them either. Then I checked my blogs to see if anyone commented on them. No! Can't say that was a surprise either. Next stop - Google myself. See how that's working now.
Naturally, I start with simply dellgirlpublishing.com, which means I must be getting the "big-head" thinking I'm that high on the search engine chain. Who am I to think I don't need the http, the colon, the slash slash, the www, AND the dot + me dot com?
Well, wonder of wonders. There I am, big as day, popping up all over the place with the simple command dellgirlpublishing.com and even without the dot com.
This post today is to give even more thanks, accolades, kudos, and special praises to my "Num-1-son" - the brains behind all the SEO technicalities and such. Just so everyone knows, he is the reason anyone can now Google me.
THANK YOU SO SO MUCH, MY "Num-1-Son"!
02 mayo Giving Thanks for My BlessingsI'm taking the day off from all things technical, no new insights, no explaining what I have learned, nothing. I'm spending the rest of the day reflecting and giving thanks for my many blessings.
First, there's my daughter, Jordyn. She always sees the best in me, always inspires me to do "whatever." No matter what project I start or what I say I might want to do, she is always there with her quiet, "You can do it, Ma. You're so good at that."
I do believe, if I said I wanted to count the leaves on the trees in the back yard, she would proclaim, "Oh yes! Hold on a minute, Ma, I'll get a bucket and help you. You are such a great tree-leaf counter." I am blessed beyond belief and so thankful she is my daughter.
There is also "Num-2 son", Mike. He keeps me going with humor, lots of praise, and hugs galore. He also inspires me with his musical talents, he has magic fingers. He takes songs that I love (he knows because I play them over and over) and does his thing with his fingers - the younger generation calls it scratchin'. When he finishes with a piece of music it's mesmerizing, it is - a work of art. The end result makes my insides shiver and shake with delight. I am so thankful for this baby boy child.
My first born, "Num-1 son", is pure genius with an analytical ability that constantly mystifies and amazes me. He is the inspiration behind my website and all of my blogs. He guides me through all of the technical things I have learned and accomplished. He is the brains behind the technology. I thank God for my first born.
I can't leave this post today without giving thanks for their dad. Without him we would not be able to do any of this, he listens patiently in the background as we plot and plan what ever new venture we decide to undertake next. He lovingly allows us all to be who we are. He is there for us - always.
And now, last on the page but first and foremost always; I give all thanks where all thanks should be given, I thank God for blessing us and keeping us in his mercy. He is our Lord and Savior. Thank You Lord. Until later.
